Our 4 Pillars of INSTRUCTION
'Teaching is more than imparting knowledge, it is inspiring change.' - William Arthur Ward
At Martongate we believe that consistency is a fundamental element in effective practice across all areas of school life, especially when it comes to teaching and learning. That is why we have developed our 4 Pillars of Instruction. These have been developed through researching effective practice in our own school alongside evidence based research from the EEF, Research Schools and a number of leading academics, including Rosenshine and Lemov.
The four pillars underpin all teaching and learning sessions within our school and form a crucial part of our professional development offer for staff.
Pillar 1 - Clear instruction and effective presentation
Pillar 2 - Active engagement and participation
Pillar 3 - High expectations and a supportive environment
Pillar 4 - Continuous feedback and responsive teaching
