Our Safeguarding Culture

At Martongate Primary School, our safeguarding culture is built upon key principles that are evident across all aspects of school life. We foster effective communication where everyone feels safe to voice concerns and information is shared openly and appropriately to protect our children. We believe in empowering others, equipping both children and adults with the knowledge and confidence to recognise and respond to safeguarding issues. Kindness and empathy underpin our interactions, creating a supportive and understanding environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Safeguarding is a shared responsibility, with all staff, governors, parents, and pupils actively contributing to a safe and secure learning environment. Finally, we act with integrity and humility, ensuring our actions are always in the best interests of our children and that we are open to learning and improving our safeguarding practices.

Safeguarding Policies

What to do if you're worried a child is being abused
Keeping Children Safe in Education - September 2024.

Operation Encompass is a Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people exposed to domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening.

The information is given in strict confidence to a school’s Key Adult to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child.

Operation Encompass is a Trauma Informed and Trauma Sensitive charity. We acknowledge and understand the impact of Domestic Abuse as an Adverse Childhood Experience.

Operation Encompass mitigates against the damaged caused by exposure to Domestic Abuse and other ACE’s
