The Hive

The Hive is an internal provision at Martongate Primary School, designed to support pupils who benefit from a highly structured, predictable learning environment in order to develop foundational knowledge, learning behaviours and emotional regulation. The provision supports pupils with a range of needs, including those with EHCPs, pupils working towards EHCP outcomes, and pupils requiring bespoke support due to communication and interaction barriers, and may also have co-occurring cognition and learning, sensory or SEMH needs.

The Hive operates as a morning-only provision, enabling pupils to access targeted support before applying and generalising their skills within their mainstream classrooms each afternoon. Integration and inclusion are central to the design of the provision.

The Hive provision provides: 

• a small discrete class
• a safe and predictable structured environment
• opportunities for children to revisit earlier missed experiences
• a modified curriculum in a supportive, caring and highly visual environment
• interventions for those children who are unable to access learning successfully in their mainstream classrooms
